Expectancy!

Today Willy got approved for a visa to travel to the United States! Yay, God!! We prayed that we could travel to the states to introduce Willy to friends and family. While we were going through the process, I kept hearing all the stories of those who were denied. But in my heart of hearts, I felt that he would be approved.   I expected that he would be approved! Yesterday we received an email from friends that we hadn't heard from in awhile. They didn't know we were going to apply for a visa today. But the email was asking us when we were coming to the states! As I read the words, I pondered, "Is this a confirmation from God that we will be making a trip?"  We were filled with expectancy!

Expectancy! I think that’s my word for this year. I don’t always have a word for the year, but this year, I asked God for a word to meditate on through the year and that’s the word He gave me.

So, what does it mean? Well, the dictionary defines it as “the state of thinking or hoping that something, especially something pleasant, will happen or be the case.”  That sounds nice, don’t you think? But to me it’s even more than that. With the word expectancy, God has given me a vision; a vision of enlarging our territory. A vision of diving deeper into orphan care here in Guatemala. I don’t have the whole vision yet, but my heart and soul are filled with expectancy.  It’s like Christmas Eve when you are a child. You know that the next day is going to be magical and you are filled with excitement inside. That’s how I feel. I can feel that God is doing something huge! So I sit in expectancy. And it’s not thinking or hoping that something will happen, it’s KNOWING that something great, something awesome, something from God is about to happen!!  I am filled with joy not only for what tomorrow will bring but also for the lives I am touching today! I am expectant that every child I share God’s love with will feel His presence, will know His joy, and will dwell in His peace!
